At Tropicanna Dispensary, we love serving top quality cannabis to the community of Santa Ana. We love Orange County and the community of Santa Ana so much that we’ve outlined some of the best spots to explore in the city. We feel a top notch cannabis experience involves an adventure, so plan your day in Santa Ana and enjoy all that Southern California has to offer.

Why We Love Santa Ana

The city of Santa Ana is the largest city in Orange County, situated along the Santa Ana River. Some of the largest and most popular neighborhoods in Santa Ana are Riverview West, Artesia Pilar, Wilshire Square, West Floral Park, West Grove Valley, Riverglen, Morning Sunwood, Sunwood Central, Floral Park, and Downtown Santa Ana. The city has been working over the years to revitalize its downtown area which has led to an abundance of public attractions. As part of these revitalization efforts, the city has supported various museums, historic sites like the Old County Courthouse, as well as multiple theaters and art galleries. If you’re into art and history, or even shopping at your favorite mall, there’s tons to do and see in Santa Ana.

Culture and Community in Santa Ana

Start your day at the Grand Central Arts Center at 125 N Broadway. Located in the Downtown National Register District, and part of Cal State Fullerton’s College of the Arts, the center is dedicated to the exploration of contemporary art and visual culture. Through socially engaged collaborations among artists, students, and a community of local, regional, national, and international backgrounds, the center hosts four to six exhibitions a year in four galleries, each featuring internationally noted artists. In addition to the gallery spaces, there is a small theater programmed by CSUF Department of Theatre and Dance.

If you’re into the museum scene, make your next stop at the Bowers Museum at 2002 N Main St. The museum boasts exhibitions that include Santa Ana history, but also collections that reflect the demographics of Southern California. In fact, Bowers is committed to celebrating California’s diverse cultural makeup, with a major emphasis on arts of indigenous peoples of the Americas and the Pacific. The Bowers Museum’s permanent collection numbers over 90,000 artifacts and works of art, so head over to the museum, there’s a lot to see.

Parks and Recreation

If you prefer the outdoors, Santiago Oaks Regional Park located at 2145 Windes Dr in neighboring Orange is just the place you should go. It’s easy to escape the bustle of the city here, as the park is considered a true nature lover’s paradise. At nearly 1,300 acres, the park offers a secluded refuge to hikers and bikers with the added bonus of mountain vistas, an orange grove, a meandering creek and a mature forest of many different species of trees and wildlife.  A series of interconnecting trails through shady groves will bring you to a lookout view of the surrounding foothills. Santa Ana also offers a variety of animal friendly parks to bring your favorite pets with you!

A Taste of History

If a day of art and nature in Santa Ana doesn’t seem quite your style, try the Lyon Air Museum located at 19300 Ike Jones Rd. The aerospace museum, located on the west side of the John Wayne Airport, features military aircrafts, rare automobiles, military vehicles and motorcycles, including a 1931 Panther motorcycle once owned by actor Steve McQueen, in addition to tons of World War II memorabilia. This museum is especially cool for all of the motorheads out there, since the collection includes rare and vintage German, Japanese, and American motorcycles as well as numerous automobiles. The exhibits aren’t only fascinating, but onlookers are able to get up close to the exhibits, making it easier to truly appreciate the collection.

The Santa Ana Zoo

If you’re looking for fun for the whole family, spend a day at the Santa Ana Zoo located at 1801 East Chestnut Avenue at Prentice Park in Santa Ana. Home to over 350 animals, the zoo opened in 1952 and has been operating ever since. A quirky fact; Joseph Prentice donated land for the zoo with the stipulation that the city must keep at least 50 monkeys at all times, so the zoo maintains a primate exhibit featuring over a dozen species from around the world. The Santa Ana Zoo exists for recreation, education, and conservation and hopes to share information about the animal kingdom to all who come to visit.
